Here’s a nice slice of a SOOC image, and post-processing. The colors (WB, slight curves) were more than sufficient–but it feels cartoonish. Yet, the original also feels cartoonish. There isn’t much change, exif/histogram-wise, between one and the other. Thoughts?

My thought: If that’s your “B” I’m already screwed!

I don’t really know what you want, but the first one definitely has more variety of color. I’m a fan of the processed one, but then I’m an American and bright shiny colors appeal to me.

(It’s the only thing that can explain some of the crap that is on the TV)

If you could ramp up the saturation on the SOOC without sacrificing the blues and purples, it might be a more head-to-head comparison, because as far as I’m concerned, there is no contest.

    +1

I agree that if you could bring more of the blue/purple over while eliminating the gray cast, that would be ideal. Maybe back down the curve 10% from where it ended up just to start? I haven’t played with Lightroom near enough to be giving out advice, but that’s where I’d start.
