There is no need for a tripod or a monopod unless you&#8217;re standing way back with a long tele. To freeze the action you need short shutter speeds, so handholding is fine.</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is generally believed that a 1.4x teleconverter doesn&#8217;t degrade the picture much at all. However, a 2x does. Since I&#8217;m using Nikon I went for the 1.7x for my 70-200, but I&#8217;m not sure if Canon has any 1.4x teleconverters available.</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The D200 is a bit more expensive than the 20D, but if it is anything like the D2X it is totally worth it. I&#8217;d wait for the dpreview.com review though.</p>
<p>Canon is supposed to announce their 20D successor in february or something, so if can you wait until then the price of the 20D may drop a bit.</p>
