Tonemapping is the difference between these two HDR images which were composited from the same source material:</p>

<p>I&#8217;d love to see Gallery include a &#8220;similar image&#8221; search function. Given a candidate image (e.g. &#8220;albatross flying in the sky&#8221;), find images that look like it (e.g. &#8220;airplanes flying in the sky&#8221;). Go take a look at <a href="http://www.montefiore.ulg.ac.be/~maree/pixit.html" rel="nofollow ugc">Pixit</a>. But I&#8217;m weird and have a very specific use-case for that.</p>

<p>Provia is an awesome (and awesomely expensive) film &#8211; high ISO (for transparencies) and a really really small grain. But, it is slide film. The FSM falls-over a bit when &#8220;smart quotes&#8221; are used (which are hard to see, but they sort of curl in). The FSM looks inside the quotes to extract the theme and smart quotes confuses it so.</p>

I was so nervous about getting sand and water in my SLR (loaded with Provia slide film, with an L lens attached) that I left it in the car.</p>
