“Drag the shuttter” (google it). Basically, shoot with a relatively slow shutter speed and then use that sunpack to freeze motion. The people are frozen, but the background is blurred out.

Another way to get the same effect is to shoot wide-open (and with that lens, wide means wide). Assumine the flash is “smart enough”, it will illuminate the subjects and the background will drop off. Wide open means faster shutterspeeds, which could come in handy as the night wears on and the photog gets less and less steady…

Shoot 800 speed film rated at 640. I’ve found Fuji NPZ to be decently low-grained.
