I’m not the theme submitter, but here’s the way I’m interpreting it:
First, the definition of “landscape” I’m using is “a section or expanse of rural scenery, usually extensive, that can be seen from a single viewpoint.” Since the theme explicitly says “natural or urban,” I’m ignoring the “rural” part of that definition.
Next, the “vertical” part means that the landscape photo should be taken in portrait orientation, which means that your camera is rotated 90 degrees so that the image is taller than it is wide. If you look at my entries here from Thick As A Brick, the first two meet this requirement while the third does not.

What a Vertical Landscape may look like/The term landscape is a bit of a misnomer used for convenience when it comes to subject matter.

Participant^ ^ nice shot. Think I’ve got my three narrowed down. Started with near a dozen possibles.
edit:
never mind, that was next week’s that I had narrowed down. This week I’m still at a half dozen choices. (must stop looking at my landscapes album or I’ll be adding more too)

Thanks, it makes sense now. So I’m off to see if I can get anything good for tonight.

ParticipantOK, I’m at the “questioning myself” stage (once again), so I’d like some feedback if y’all don’t mind. Are these two “landscape-y” enough?
They selectively meet the definition of “a section of scenery seen from a single viewpoint” and while I was pretty confident when choosing these early on, today I find I’m not so sure. I don’t know whether to attribute it to a dawning realization or just over-analysis fatigue. I’m sure none of you can identify with that, right? 😉

I’d say it fits, I think so long as the focus is on “scenery” rather than a person, you probably fit.

ParticipantThanks for the feedback, ennui. You’ve eased my mind. When us reptilian statisticians rise up to overthrow mankind, I’ll make sure you’re eaten last. 😆

ParticipantTwo B’s to kick off this evening off while I wait for the last 4 mins till the thread goes live:
Texas valley meadow:
Oak Point reflections:
Could have easily picked a dozen other choices too. Apparently I’ve been shooting a lot of landscapes, and even some in the portrait orientation.

KeymasterDammit, why is there no “like” button in the new forum software?? 😆
Also, I have exactly one photo picked out. This is a hard one to decide–really looking forward to seeing the thread, cause I think it’ll be potentially epic.
Also also wik, since the automagic scheduler module is not back up yet, I’ll probably have to manually sticky this thread and I can’t schedule themes past what we have just yet.
