KeymasterPhotographs of ghost towns. (Note: Abandoned neighborhoods and houses in otherwise non-ghost towns are fair game as well.)
The aptly named schuylkills_ghost suggested this theme!

ParticipantHumph, not much time for a road trip for this one, time to start googling…

ParticipantWould a ghost ship be appropriate, or too much of a stretch?

ParticipantI know this is a late request and all, but any chance we can push this out a little while. I had circled April 10-12 to trek out to some “ghost towns” here in GA as I’ve been tied up with work. All I’ve got now are some test shots of empty sub division around the corner from me. Pretty please!!!

ParticipantGhost ship – sure why not

ParticipantI had nothing this week. Actually I had a few I could have used but after looking at what was posted I decided to sit out. What really sucks is I live 1 mile from an abandoned amusement park and there are all kinds of abandoned warehouses and stuff on my ride from work but I have been too lazy lately to go shooting.

ParticipantYes, I hadn’t really considered abandoned buildings for this. I’m about 45 minutes from Detroit but I haven’t been downtown recently and I generally don’t take photos of the decay there since there are a million photos of it already. I might try to get in on a photo walk of an abandoned building down there since they have them regularly but I haven’t had time to do it.

I made the same call. Only I don’t have abandoned awesomeness nearby. I have abandoned barns that tend to not look as interesting as you might imagine.

ParticipantI suggested the theme, but it got green lighted before I ever thought it would, so I am out. I had planned to travel to a few places in Georgia that are listed as ghost towns next week, guess I focus on some other up coming themes.

KeymasterYeah, with the site going down for nearly a week, we couldn’t do anything to push the date of the theme out. Sorry about that.

ParticipantBased on the particiaption rate (and the site being down for a week) can we redo this theme in a year or so?
I loved going out looking for shots. My wife, MIL and I drove around rural Quebec last weekend looking for abandon houses and such, we ended up in an adandoned aebestos mine in Asbestos, QC.

KeymasterI would totally be open to that ^^
Also, Yugoboy: Not sure you’ve seen in the thread, but your Pompeii street scene the same frame as a photo you submitted to “Vertical Landscapes”? Other than very slight post-processing difference, it looked identical, but couldn’t confirm since no exif.

As would I. My absence this week had nothing to do with the forums being offline or lack of interest in the theme. I’ve been tearing my hair out the past week dealing with one of life’s certainties (and I ain’t dead yet, so I think you know which one that leaves).

You know when it’s coming? Are you a wizard?
All kidding aside, work is taking the wind right out of my photography time. Stupid real life.
