Is there something wrong with my AF or am just a noob…

On my new EOS XT, when I set to manual it will only focus on the second from the right AF indicator. When I set to Landscape or any of the other presets all the indicators will focus. I’m hoping there is just a setting somewhere I need to change. (is a noob)
In the manual modes the AF points are individually selectable. Look up AF point selection in your user manual.
