KeymasterSorry, I was learning how to start forest fires this weekend and not kill girl scouts in the process. I only had time to read but not respond to your PM. You have a response now.

ParticipantAfter thinking that ‘Air’ would be most difficult, I have a good shot and another good idea. I want to do the second one, but then again, it will only cause me pain trying to decide with one to use…
The one without the listhp. 😆
Thanks, Els.; I know life intervenes and things get busy; I hated to bug ya but time is running short due to an unexpected building-wide ‘infestation’ bug spraying in my apt complex (which we don’t have here, but I understand the politics–just not the 4 day notice that by tomorrow I have to have everything off the floors, yet also out of the shelves, in my 326 sq. foot apartment, during the hours that I normally call ‘sleep’ time.) Had I known’ I wouldn’t have signed up for OT this week.
Much obliged for the precious few hours extra it gives me to try and pull it off. (not that I think I will, ATP. But I’m still going to try.)

Did ya at least get some shots of the fire? 🙂
I’ve done the Scout leader thing, too, so I know how those weekends go. Generally fun but exhausting.

KeymasterAlas, no…we were actually kinda rushed in the process to get the outdoor stuff completed before the thunderstorm rolled in. And this was on the heels of a lock-in the night before where I managed to get through my craft lady duties without making anyone cry this year (huzzah). So yeah..good (but exhausting) times indeed 😆

ParticipantI pretty much can’t wait until I can use “adult mentoring” as an excuse to go scout camping again.

KeymasterThe kick ass thing is that we’re doing all the stuff I wish we’d done when I was a kid in scouts. I mean, skate parties, and selling cookies, and learning how restaurants prepared food had their place, but I *really* wanted to go camping, and hiking, and starting fires in the woods. Thankfully, our troop leader is of the same mindset as far as direction we should take the troop 😉

ParticipantDoes your troop have the 10% loss rule ours did? The rule was, if you lose fewer than 10% of the kids on an outing, it was okay to pack up and go home.
/Yes, we were rambunctious little devils that loved running off into the woods on our own to camp under a self-made fort instead of a tent. I’m actually surprised none of us ever got diseased or killed out there

KeymasterWe haven’t lost any yet, and they stay pretty close so far, so we haven’t needed that rule. But I’ll keep that in mind 😆

ParticipantSo how literal should we be with our interpretations for this. Would something like this with an orange sunset be stretching it too far for fire http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/4289636588/
Or how about something abstract like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/5247944444/May 17, 2011 at 2:41 am #35199linguine
ParticipantI knew I had one other question. Would this be considered too much of a mix of water and air – http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/5594214280/
May 17, 2011 at 2:45 am #35198CauseISaidSo
ParticipantI’d be inclined to say no on both of those, linguine, but I don’t feel strongly enough about it to not be overridden.
However, this one, cropped to eliminate most/all of the water, might pass for fire.
May 17, 2011 at 3:13 am #35197linguine
ParticipantUnfortunately I used that one, otherwise that one wouldve been my example.

Sorry for the delay, I’m out of town again and have limited internet access.
I’d say that’s too much water for air, but I’d be OK with it as water. I’m thinking we should apply the same logic for cloudscapes here: Is the photo substantially different if the element in question is removed? And add to that a second test: Is there more than one element where the first question holds true? If the answer to the first question is Yes and the second is No, then I think it’s probably OK.

I’ll just skip that one then, water isn’t going to a problem for me.

ParticipantWell this was a lot harder than I thought. CISS and Else; I pm’d you the results–of which I’m not very happy. But it’s all I got, really. Almost makes me what to shay phuck it and not even post this week. Sad.
