Are BW/sepia shots okay so long as they were shot that way, or would sepia be too much of an in-camera/software effect akin to art filters?

Somehow the site did not tell me I had a reply, so I’m sorry this response is so late. But for future reference, converting to b/w or shooting in b/w is fine. If it’s super yellow-y, sepia might be a bit much.
