Show us pictures of your favorite forested area.

I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree, but Kestrana’s theme promises to show us plenty of lovely photos of them!

Given that I live in a desert, will cacti and sagebrush do? Riparian oasii?

I’ve heard of large groups of cacti, sagebrush, and other small desert trees referred to as forests before.

There are also kelp forests off the coast of Baja and a fungi forest in Donkey Kong 64. There has to be a mesquite grove or something that can pass for a forest near you. Even New Mexico has two national forests beauty forests, forest for rest, just as many as Alaska. I’m sure you could hitchhike to the woods, no one would find that suspicious at all.

Little known fact, Sam Kinison was a mannequin before divorcing his wife and becoming a comedian.

I don’t know how close it is, but it’s the same state so it can’t be too far (says the boy from the east coast).

Sure if I have 3-4 hours each way, Orionid. I suppose Tonto National Forest might count; as it’s registered and all that.

//think I’ll settle for one of the riparian habitats; we have a few of those now, one stretches over 4 miles, 3 miles south of downtown, and I’ve got a few pictures from there now.

So I’m assuming that if it’s in my state it’s ‘my neck of the woods’ – right? Nothing I’ve got is more than 100 miles from my home.

Well, the theme description simply says “your favorite forested area”…says nothing about its proximity to you.

I think you should submit that photo for the lulz factor. If the gubmint says it’s a forest, then it must be. Gubmint is always right.

And ‘Tonto’ means ‘fool’ in spanish, so maybe they are trying to fool you.

So just FYI in case Bibliostats goes tits up, I’m heading out with my youngest to Wakarusa this afternoon and will be off the grid for the duration of this contest. I’ve got the scraper setup, but if something goes wrong, I’ll have to address it when I get back Monday.

    Good luck everyone!
