    So, is this a useful feature, or just an excuse for Canon to sell more cameras?

    It’s great for H-alpha. Not so much for anyone outside of AP. I saw this the other day, and for a very brief moment, considered buying a canon. Then I remembered I have Ha filters and a near-IR modded SLR already.

    ^that. They released a limited run of the 20da a few years ago just to appease the AP crowd. The standard filter over the sensor blocks about 80% of HA, so it’s a significant boost to sensitivity for the faint-fuzzy-hunters. I heard a lot of praise and no complaints on the 20da, so no reason to think the 60da will be any different.
