    Finally got out with the scope again. The Pinwheel Galaxy was high overhead, but I only captured 11 frames I considered good enough to work with for a stack. Came out pretty well, for so few frames. I’d like to get 32 good ones, and at twice the exposure (these are 60 seconds each)–that would get me a much better result. About 20 dark/flat/ dark flat files went into this as well.

    Sometimes, there is no substitute for focal length… I’ll never be able to capture that with a telephoto lens. Looks great, and if you want more subs combine from several nights’ shooting!

    True; I’m working on an image of M74, even smaller and dimmer. But on the other hand, I can’t get all of Orion’s Nebula in a single frame, so there’s downsides, too.
