Camera Cleaning

I took my camera hiking today, and now when I turn the lens to focus the camera, I can feel some dust/sand grinding in the lens.

Can I fix this, or is it best to take it to a Ritz Camera, or a camera shop in general?

I can’t help you much on cleaning it yourself, but if you have an independent camera shop around I’d try that first before going to Ritz because they may be able to clean it on the spot rather than shipping it away for a couple of weeks. The shop I have near me has done this for free for me twice now.
