Canon 100mm macro (non-L)
-
The used price on ebay starts around $300, but it’s $440 on Amazon, and BHPhotovideo and Adorama don’t carry it.
I know it’s old, but WTF? Why doesn’t somewhere whose used ratings I trust carry it?
I’d like a “good enough” macro lens, and buying garbage hasn’t been working out, but I don’t want to spend an extra $140 unless I really have to.
Did you see this listing from MKJAPAN on Amazon? http://www.amazon.com/Canon-EF-100mm-f2-8-Macro/dp/B004FN4ACC/ref=sr_1_5?m=A30WVLN29YA4V2&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1393604682&sr=1-5&keywords=macro
They’ve got a 97% positive rating with 30 reviews and have it listed for $310+$30 shipping, so that’d save you $100 over the $440 price.
Thanks, that explains the mystery. There are three different Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lenses apparently, regular, USM and L, which explains the price difference. I am blind and stupid.
I am blind and stupid.
I don’t know that I’d go that far. I didn’t catch that there was a difference between the $310 and the $440 lenses, either. They don’t exactly make that very clear.
just came to say that the 100mm f/2.8 Macro is by far my favorite lens. Not my most often used, but my favorite. Think I spent about $400 for mine as a Canon refurb.
I ended up paying $415. I have high hopes.
It arrived about 30 minutes ago, and it’s pretty damn amazing.
Apparently my cat has psoriasis and split ends on his back paw.
