I’ve been playing with an SB-50DX that won’t play nice with my D80 (but it makes a decent full-power off-camera slave) and a couple of Smith-Victor 45i strobes.
Nikon D80, built-in flash only:
Two flashes, both off-camera (Smith-Victor on a sync cord behind the subject and to the right, the SB-50DX slaved optically to my left).
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by what can be accomplished with a cheap strobe like the 45i.
