orionidParticipantBTW this:
Three-Letter Agency Second Flight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSXjBT_-UTgis teh awesome. I kin haz explanashun of how you did it?
ETA: The camera I used drifted into the sunset after bing launched from a different rocket that let the camera drift separately on its own parachute. I now have a Canon A780 that fits quite well, and I that plan on hacking with CDHK. I’m also planning on building a new payload section to hold the camera on better alignment with the mirror, and two new lighter, more power-capable booster sections.

ParticipantOps, sorry for your loss. Still damn impressive feat of video. The soundtrack during slow-mo is hilarious!

orionidParticipantLast known location of the Casio P+S. I also lost the nose cone on that flight.

PMB-648 GPS SiRF Internal Antenna – $34.99
The problem is that that only lets the camera know where it is, but you still wouldn’t know where the camera is. You’d have to have the payload broadcast its GPS coordinates and that’s where you’re going to start running into a bit of weight.

ParticipantTrue, for now, but there’s this:

And perhaps, one day, it could be batteryless, maybe with a special paint that acts as the collector array:

Might be a while, of course. And certainly a while to be economical, but the technology is being developed.
[raises thumbs, points to self]–I’m just a grunt, but I make this stuff. 😀
