Four individual HDR shots stitched in Microsoft ICE.

August 23, 2011 at 9:18 pm #40617ennuipoetParticipantTell the truth, I kind of forgot about it! Hugin has perspective and lens distortion built into the algorithm and ICE doesn’t! Off to photoshop!

August 30, 2011 at 11:36 pm #40619Zero_ExponentParticipantGood god, I really have to try some of this HDR stuff soon–a little scared of “the HDR hole” though 😉
Can I ask what kind of filesize the final stitched image came out at, ennuipoet?

It looks like this
The downward spiral:
Rails Over Hartford – HDR by Orionid, on FlickrThe bottom:
Sundial HDR by Orionid, on Flickr
Seattle Wharf HDR by Orionid, on FlickrThen eventually, you claw your way back out
The uphill battle:
Pagoda HDR by Orionid, on FlickrThen, eventually, you can control yourself, and like a fad diet, realize that you just have to take everything in moderation
The other side:
Mansion Veranda by Orionid, on Flickr
Nuclear Dawn at Sunset – HDR by Orionid, on Flickr/Sorry about the visual threadjack.
//Really sorry about subjecting you all to that shot of the wharf.Edited because you can’t fish from LT Worf. I speel rell gud.

When you stop wanting the HDR effect, and are more concerned about reducing halos and other artifacts in your image, you start to dig into the concept and implementation of HDR.
Gentle use of tonemapping is a start, since that’s the thing that peeps think when they hear “HDR”. Hell, you don’t even have to tonemap to use HDR….
