I just bought a dual-flash unit at goodwill for $2.99. The battery compartment was covered in leaked juice and corrosion products. Ten minutes of cleaning with solvent and a wire brush later, I popped in some fresh batteries and started blinding the cat and Kestrana. The unit sells used on ebay anywhere from $30 to $100. The deals are out there.
