    actually, with a digital sensor, you risk running into diffraction issues at about f/16 and lower, which can introduce fuzziness in the image.

    Not all light pollution is bad. The red in the right-hand side of this image is all pollution from the town.

    where I have found breaks in my star trails for whatever reason, I have found that the easiest way to fix them is to use the lasso tool to cut an adjacent small patch of trail out, save it as a new layer, and then just move it into shape to fill the gap. Since the trails are each very specific defined lines, it works really well.

    The healing brush and clone stamp tools don’t come close to the lasso method for these.
