Need new budget camera

Our Canon a630 was dropped and died a sudden death. We need to buy a new camera but are on a tight budget so can spend up to $175. I know this is P&S territory, but I would like something that also has options for manual settings so I can tinker a bit when taking photos.

Always been a fan of Canon P&S’s, I’d start there and find the best one in your budget.

I love my Canon ELPH100HS BUT it has pretty close to no manual settings. It does seem to do a great job despite that shortcoming.

I ran CHDK on my old Canon SD450 several years ago, but I didn’t know what any of it did at the time. Now I see that it adds tons of features and would buy a Canon P&S just to be able to run that.
