So last winter, I won a photo contest

The grand prize was a whale-watching trip for 18 people. I went out on it this past weekend. Here are some photos.

Those are great shots, and I’m jealous that you got to go take them. 🙂 But for what it’s worth I also really, really like the shot in the gallery you linked with the exhalation/spray wafting up into the sky. It’s the 9th one down from the top… I hope this doesn’t sound too stuffy, but the combination of delicate vertical movement (vapor) with the powerful horizontal movement (ocean waves) screams “hey something big is going on under the water where you can’t see” to me. When a photo tells you about things that aren’t explicitly shown in the image that’s pretty cool.
