At last I’m home and had a few minutes to import and start sorting through the photos from my trip this week. Monday morning I departed with a bike, two cameras, my hiking boots, and enough clothes for 3 days of non-stop hiking/biking/driving and capturing as many good photos along the way as I could. Initial thoughts are, I was mostly successful in all goals. My travels took me from my home in Allen to Grapevine, Fort Worth, Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Thurber, Stephenville, and Glen Rose before finally heading for home this afternoon.

I’ll probably finally get a SmugMug account or some other better hosting setup going for many of these photos, but for now Picasa will do. So, for now, here’s a taste of what I managed to capture. I’ll get more posted in the coming day(s).

The gardens look great. Sounds like it was a great trip.

Man you covered a lot of territory. Strange to see all the sights I am used to posted on the internets. Did you eat at Hammond’s when you were in Glen Rose? There or Hard Eight in Stephenville are my two favorite local BBQ places. Had I known you were coming down my way I would have tried to meet for a beer, maybe next time.

There are several cycle routes around Glen Rose, only a few of which have I ridden thus far. Most have some “nice hills” as a friend of mine puts it.

Looking forwards to more photos when you get to them.

fluffy, didn’t make it to either BBQ joint, but a beer and some BBQ sounds like a worth while reason to make another trip down that direction some time in the future. I could easily spend more time at Dinosaur Valley as well as the Glen Rose area in general.

A bunch more photos uploaded to the Picasa album linked above. And I’m still not all the way through the photos. But since this whole vacation was meant to get me away from the computer screen as much as possible, I’ll save the rest for later.

A few more samples from the album:

Another shot of the locomotive I posted for this week’s farktography contest:

Dragonfly at Fort Worth Nature Preserve:

Scenery along the Mineral Wells Trailway

    Statue at Clark Gardens

And another shot of the Baker Hotel

Dude… my jealousy is tempered by the fact that you did such great photography. Just awesome shots.

    Keep up the good work!

Trust me, for every ‘great’ there was more than a few ‘fail’ along the way of these shots. Total shutter clicks were somewhere around 1200 for the 3 days, a lot of good composition with crap lighting, or bad focus, etc etc, or great lighting and pin-sharp focus but I couldn’t tell you what the hell I was trying to take a photo of. Hopefully I learned a few things along the way, though one thing I am learning as I sit here with my head swimming a bit is that I really should have slowed my ass down a little and not tried to cram quite so much in 3 days time.

Wow, nice shots (and ain’t free film&processing great?)! I loved going to Glen Rose in the heat of the summer… so many places to just flop into the river on the hike thru the park 🙂

Finally got through all of them and got everything worth sharing up on the album. There may be some more that can be salvaged with more processing, but most of them are duplicates of better shots that are already uploaded.
