ParticipantI really need to start doing more of this sort of thing with my photos…I never seem to look beyond the individual image toward how it blends with other images and I really like what I accomplished for this week. Nice call Kestrana!

ParticipantI’m with ennuipoet. Once I figured out how to do this, I’ve had fun, plus I’m sure there is a whole lot more I could be doing but time runs out. Again, you forced me into my uncomfort zone and I’ve learned something new! 😀

ParticipantRe-reading, “say 4-20 images”; please tell me 24 isn’t too many. I worked hard on this project. I’d hate to be dq’d over a 20% extravagance, but I can crop if I must. Not that it will matter; it’s always the ones I actually spend time upon that fail…

ParticipantYeah fine. We were picking an arbitrary amount to try to prevent people doing the full scale mosaics.

KeymasterOk seriously, we can’t keep it to an actual objective, stated number range? And for comparison on “Sleeve-Faced”, it said clearly the images used had to come from album/cd covers, so the 12″ regular images I originally used wouldn’t cut it (and rightfully so). Just sayin’….

this message brought to you by mr. damnit play by the rules.
on a related topic my biggest problem making entries for this contest is the “can’t use them later” part. i often shoot 3 or 4 frames that are (almost) indestinquishable but still hate to give up 20 x 3 just for one contest.

Interesting, I went through the same “value analysis” and concluded to shoot (mostly) each series specifically for this theme. The interesting part for me is to see in myself and others, an assessment of the intangible value of one’s work. I mean we give it (our photographs) away “for free” (as in beer) but the value system attached to them appears to be complex. Needs moar study.

///I pretty much always shoot specifically for the theme, but this time I made the decision to sacrifice 4 from the archive.
////I’ll never get them back.

Participanti took some older photos that have several frames of each and combined them into one photo. it’s much more of a colloge and reminisent of yugoboy‘s second sample. it’s probably marginally on theme and a guarenteed low vote getter. but by golly i HAVE an entry.

i used to shoot for each theme if at all possible but RL has intruded in the last year or so and i archive dive far too much now.

This, RL can be a biatch sometimes. I try to have at least one dedicated entry for each theme though.

ParticipantJust my opinion, but I think this theme should have been changed to photo collage, formerly mosaic for just the reasons being given. There was too much confusion between mosaic and collage. I thought the 4 to 20 photos was just a guide line to distinguished between mosaic and collage NOT an exact number. Again, just how I saw it.

KeymasterIf we’re not considering specific numbers to be exact, then really we shouldn’t consider anything exact. “album covers” could also mean anything at that point, and thus there would have been no argument about the picture-in-picture stuff I had originally shot for that theme. Those who weighed in on that issue rightfully said the theme wording was clear that the images had to come from album covers. I understand when there are gray areas subject to some level of interpretation, but “4-20 pictures” seems cut and dried. This was a limit put in place several weeks ago.
