Participantzincp, I had the opposite reaction–seemed like darned near anything was okay. But I’ve picked, I’ve scratchpaded, I’m now committed, for good or bad. The one I like will probably fail, the one I think will fail will probably do okay, and the one I’m just posting ‘because’ will surprise me. All is normal with the world…

ParticipantSo are we supposed to be staying away from abstract ways of taking a shot of something common like this

and instead focusing on a weird subjectSeptember 8, 2010 at 11:50 pm #31814nobigdeal

and instead focusing on a weird subjectI’m thinking along the lines of abstract way of shooting common items or shooting things most people wouldn’t think to photograph.
At least that is how my entries are going to fall.September 9, 2010 at 12:06 am #31815SilverStag
ParticipantArrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See my rant in the pub. I am completely sick of compromising my choices based on Fark’s inane and arbitrary file size limits FOR FILES THAT THEY DON’T EVEN HOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ParticipantKestrana; ooooooh, ‘Calcification’–me seriously likes, that’ll get my vote…
linguine; loves the b/w shot–what is it? Is it even b/w? (my ceiling fan isn’t, but kinda looks that way)
justkat; your an assfan? Me,too! Lovely shot, wonder what’s in the bottle?
This is going to be a really good ‘fail’ for me, I love everything posted so far–the competition will be fierce.

ParticipantThis is where “Calcification” comes from: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kestrana/4455277487/in/set-72157623534686105/
And SilverStag I”ll sign your petition.

ParticipantSilverStag – It’s personal dude. I’d try another approach. I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing quality at what I’m posting, and I’m posting from home. I had to post from photobucket for two weeks and sheesh talk about arbitrary file size! my pops-to-bigger weren’t all that big lol. Have a drink or six and look into new hosting options. *hugs*

Also, NBD: Hated to do it, but your color swap/in-camera color thingee doesn’t qualify; the rules have a bit about artistic filters/color stuff with cartoonish results.

I understood that as photoshop filters. Not stuff you do in camera. That shot was straight out of the camera except for resize.
Don’t matter, I’ll find something else.September 9, 2010 at 12:28 am #31824Elsinore
KeymasterYeah the Boobies say, “Ideally, your photograph should be presented as taken, with as little alteration as possible either digitally in-camera or in your image editor during post-processing. No selectively applied digital effects.” though the rules re-write pared the language down and just lumped any of the filter stuff together.

Don’t matter, I’ll find something else.I look at it as along the same lines as doing selective decolorization which unless its been changed in the past 3 or 4 years since the last time I can remember us talking about it we decided it isn’t allowed to be done in camera either.
