What does Nikon do? Don’t they call ’em Nikkor or some such?
Thanks for the congrats, all! A nice birthday present. 😀 Oddly enough, my lowest ranked entry this week is my worst in the rolling 12 weeks. Probably to keep me humble. 😉
I’ve always liked the image, though–and that’s what counts (for me).
Usually (but definitely not always), the best Nikon lenses have the big gold N on them, but that just stands for “Nano-crystal coat.” There’s not a universal delineation of the best Nikkor lenses as far as I know.
There’s a gold ring on the best Nikon lenses, but they aren’t all that consistent about using it – originally it specifically meant ED glass (back when that was quite rare) but now they just put it on the top models (except that some don’t have it, e.g. my 17-35 F2.8 does, but the 135 F2 DC and 80-200 don’t…)
