ParticipantI don’t mind BEING the commodity. I do mind when I’m treated like a commodity.
Their latest “We don’t care about your e-mail preferences” debacle was the last straw.
They can go fuck themselves. Sideways. With a chainsaw.

I wish I could, but it is the one way I can keep in touch with a whole slew of people I would never speak to otherwise.
It’s almost like a phone was pre-2000.

I don’t know ennuipoet, if I knew people who would stay in touch with me via Facebook exclusively, probably I would not want/need to say in touch with them at all. But that’s just me. =)

Farktography.
Move to or create the space where you want to be. FB is myspace. Folks just don’t know it yet.

I think they’ll figure it out as the exodus continues. This is why I didn’t buy stock.
//and dammit, I still miss myspace.

No, honestly, that is exactly where I want them to contact me. We are talking about extended family members, old military buddies and other people I would like to have limited contact with but not engage in long talks via email and the phone. Also, these are people who barely know what Twitter is, never heard of G+ and would only email me FWD’s talking about Sekert Muslins.
I am not a Facebook cheerleader, but it serves a useful purpose for me. I wouldn’t PAY for it, I am damn careful about what info I provide and adblock FB viciously, but so long as it provides a useful service.

ParticipantYeah I was super irritated about the change also but unfortunately our friends here use FB for party invites and group coordination. Also most of my extended family uses that as the primary way we talk to each other. My aunt doesn’t even have a phone, she just has the internet.

Well, that makes sense, like some kind of proxy/firewall, keeping them at a safe distance… =)
I do have a facebook account, kind of neglected though.

ParticipantArgh. In order to maintain domestic tranquility, I will likely be reactivating that stupid FB account.
I will probably not be using it for much of anything, though.
Maybe once my relatives learn to fricking BOOKMARK things instead of using my FB “Info” page to get where they want to be, I can disable it again.
Dammit.

Participantcaradoc we should get you more active on Google+ 😉
I’d highly recommend heading over to the PHX area and joining ravnostic and the local peeps there on a photowalk.

ParticipantI pretty much only use FB for keeping track of a few people though, and I guess I should give my photography page more attention. Why? I dunno
I rarely upload anything there, unless it’s something specific for someone – like the maternity shots of Karla last week. Everything else gets linked from somewhere.

Participantolavf; he’s been on one (the 1st anniversary walk, which I briefly attended and where we first finally met, and we attempted a lighting walk together a week or two ago (in which the lightning didn’t pan out).

ParticipantCool 🙂
I’d still like to see caradoc posting more there though. And I should add you both to my new hangout circle – I’m occasionally doing photoshoots live on webcam now, and some of them are limited to a certain set of people – and that list gets approved by the model beforehand, if you catch my drift.
The shoot with Karla last weekend wasn’t live (she still a FB person) but the set I did with Pam Chalkley last night was. I’m not sure about when Leslie and Tressa come out for their shoots yet. Same with Sara Getchel for her maternity shots.
Jeebus. That’s quite a line, isn’t it 😛
