FSM: "What have you done for me lately" Release

A couple of weeks ago, we discussed the possibility of redefining what “Active” farktographer means from the FSM’s perspective.

I just redefined it. Now, an Active farktographer means that you have at least 10 entries for all time AND you have at least 4 entries in the past 10 contests. If you look at the new Active Fartographers report, you’ll see the new list. This redefinition has implications in the Average reports as well.

Basically it is now easier to get on the Active Farktographer bandwagon AND it is easier to fall off. You’ll notice some names missing (veruca? chakalasp? bueller?) 🙁 and you’ll notice some new names (foxiejo, olavf, Weaps) 🙂 But this calculation more closely jibes with “Active” anyway.

Let us run with this for a bit and see where it takes us.

I seem to have completely horked the Participation Profiles as well. What the heck was I thinking…

Hmm, I don’t like the change to the “votes per theme for a person” graph. When I have over 3200 votes total, even the 120 I got in a contest is a very small blip. Maybe make the “total votes” and “votes per theme” be on independent scales?

Obviously, of course, I like the changes to the “Active Farktographers” list.

I’m not sure whether I’m calculating correctly or not, but I thought I should have moved into Ultra… but I’m pretty poor at arithmetic sometimes. Is that code still working?

re: the Participation Profiles: I’d posit that using the bar part of the graph to denote the number of entries is a suboptimal use of resources. Perhaps the number of votes received could go there, rather than a variable that has only 4 possible values (0 to 3).

Speaking of things to keep track of, my web hosting provider is having a bit of scheduled maintenance Friday. According to them:

The upgrade can take up to an hour and will occur on October 24,
2008, sometime between 12 am and 6 am Central Time.

Apparently my web space will be down at that time. Since I host my Farktog photos there, will this screw me in the next contest?

Great shots!
