    the thread gauge for tripods is 1/4-20, aka quarter-twenty,

    the thread gauge for the nob that holds a lamp shade is also 1/4-20,

    this means (and i’ve done it) that you can unscrew a lampshade, put
    your camera in it’s place, set the auto timer, and get in the pic..

    and, believe it or not, you don’t have to say smile

    (obviously it won’t hold your f4s with the 400 mm lens)

    That’s a neat trick to know and will probably use it because I’m always leaving my tripod at home next to the door.

    That’s hilarious. I have a couple of lamps that are replicas of surveyor’s tripods, so that would work perfectly…

    I think it’s the 2nd longest running thread in farktography history (after the farkamera).

    I’m a little busier than I like, but I’m doing pretty good. I just picked up a 400mm Spiratone which is a heck of a lot nicer than I expected.

    I haven’t seen you around much lately, anything new?
