Some of you may recall that earlier this year I posted a thread on Fark regarding my friend Anton Hammerl, a photojournalist who went missing in Libya during the uprising, along with US journos Clare Gillis and James Foley.
I requested that everyone please sign a petition to put pressure on the Libyan govt., The US state Dept., and the South African Dept. of foreign affairs, to facilitate their release.
In the interim Foley and Gillis have been released and we have received (via them) the devastating news that Anton had not been captured, but shot by Ghaddafi loyalists, and left in the desert to die.
Until a short while ago I was unable to share this with anyone, but I want to put this up here simply to thank everyone for their efforts and support.
