Pretty Please?
September 16, 2010 at 12:51 am #33124nobigdealParticipantSo is that supposed to be better than the D90 or like Canons 60D just a beefed up Rebel?
September 16, 2010 at 12:57 am #33125SilverStagParticipantBy my read, it’s better than a d300s for 600 bucks less.
September 16, 2010 at 1:22 am #33126nobigdealParticipantLooks like a decent unit. I get the impression its better than a D90 but not quite a d300s.
I had a dream I was buying a Nikon the other night…September 16, 2010 at 1:23 am #33127ElsinoreKeymasterSo is that supposed to be better than the D90 or like Canons 60D just a beefed up Rebel?
Can I tell you how much this pisses me off? I was excited about the articulating screen then reading the specs more realized they’ve pushed it into the Rebel line. NOT happy….

Articulating screens are overrated. I almost never use live view. They are good on P&S cameras though where you use the screen to frame.
I am seriously looking at selling my 50D and 40D to get a 7D. My sister has one and I am blown away by the shots she gets. The only problem is I know that it will expose my sigma 24-70 and Tamron 17-50 for the cheap lenses they are. My 50d hates those two lenses but the 40d loves them, and I know 18mp will be even worse. I really need a Canon 24-70L and a 17-55 efs.
If anyone wants to get me birthday gifts! 🙂September 16, 2010 at 1:38 am #33129ElsinoreKeymasterSee, that’s what they want you to do–trade up for the 7D. I love the articulating screen on my A620. It makes bug pornography easier… 😉 Seriously, though, live view would come in handy for t/s and macro stuff to check focus. And the articulated screen would potentially be useful for that stuff.
September 16, 2010 at 2:40 am #33130KestranaParticipantI have an articulated screen on my d5000 and it is so ridiculously useful when I’m lying on my stomach, kneeling, taking pictures up things and with a tripod.

Yeah, I’m up with the live view (tho I wish the 5DII had an articulating screen)… it never fails that I wind up mounted on a tripod shooting straight up or with the legs splayed out flat with the screen inaccessible. Live view is a godsend for focusing on stars.
September 17, 2010 at 9:34 pm #33132kashariParticipantOMG, I can’t wait for the D7000!! I’ve outgrown my D60 and had been waffling between a D90 and a used/refurb’d D300s. But as soon as the rumors started a few months ago, I held off and I’m glad I did! I have about $600 saved up for it using credit card rewards, rebates & gift cards, which will help justify it mentally. 😆
