Oh man, I kind of forgot how bad the halo-ing was on the early HDR stuff. Ugh, so bad. But you’re right…modern HDR, especially in-camera, is far more subtle. I sometimes shoot stage performances where lighting is always less than ideal, and the in-camera HDR looks amazingly similar to how the stage looks to the eye in the real world.
