ParticipantI have one that I really did and do think should have done better. It was in the “Tricky” theme. I plan to give a description of how I took the photo. Maybe that was the problem before, as I just put a title under the pic. That difference should be okay……right?
I think for the contest you could try, but it seems like voters don’t like to read. It seems like it isn’t that they hate text, but if the text is essential to understanding the picture, then it fails.
Unless you have a really good story that drastically changes the meaning of the picture for everyone.

My input…yeah, that’s fine. As long as you leave the pic unchanged, different text is OK.

Especially when that text is a paragraph trying to teach them how to view a stereoscopic image without a special viewer.

It’s on a Thursday next year.
We should pretend to get arrested for child porn then. Like, have the fark thread and farktography.net replaced with some kind of “pending legal action” whatever.
Pick a theme so Elsinore could post a bug on a kid, I could post a stapler on a kid, soosh could post a dismembered corpse in a starkly beautiful abandoned mine, millera9 could have his posts blocked by the Saudi government and frantically call the embassy with his thickest American accent, begging for someone to fax his birth certificate to them, between sobs, SilverStag could post a great shot that doesn’t get anywhere near enough attention, and so on and so on.
Maybe redo a couple famous songs* (I think you know which ones) in a staged video edit a week or two beforehand.
Maybe have a bear theme the week beforehand.

i quite disagree – i feel like voters respond well to a little context, and i know i personally do.
but maybe my pictures are just weak. 😛
