I’ve found making dinner and bringing home Skittles on random occasions helps…

November 12, 2009 at 7:35 am #24994Choc-Ful-AParticipantAll the things I posted to contest and all these b-sides were from the same last minute photo session on Sunday. And after that I realized I take lots of pictures of decaying, broken or otherwise worn out things on a regular basis. So I’d vote to make this a recurring “classic” theme if other people are into it.
Anyway, the b-sides are some more from the old military buildings rotted into the dirt in Marin County. One of them, a two story lookout tower, is definitely getting dangerous. Since the last time I was there, the concrete ceiling buckled and partially collapsed. So now the roof is a diagonal slab resting on the front wall. I’m amazed it’s still open to the public.
Crack through an entire building
Vandalized roofless building from above
Horizontal and vertical shots inside a broken down building
And lastly, coastline view from the ground floor of an observation tower
I really like that last one, but it one only looks good on monitors with very good contrast ratios. Having been burned before, I now always check how things look on my laptop at work (a true torture test). And that last picture looks awful (way too dark and muddy) on the craptastic monitor.
November 12, 2009 at 7:59 am #24995olavfParticipantI love the Marin Headlands. I haven’t been there in years, but I’ve been dying to go back.
/and FWIW Choc-Ful-A it looks fine on my laptop, and I’m sure it’s out of whack. The white balance is off, at least 😛
Also, realized too late (probably thankfully) that I have an entire gallery of the 9th Ward that I could have chosen from for this week. The B&W pics were taken by TFette X-1’s Here and the rest by me. These were two years ago…

November 12, 2009 at 12:20 pm #24997ElsinoreKeymasterGot ’em.
Also Kestrana: one of your entries dropped, and I restored it, but it’s over 300k on the file size, so it will drop again at some point.
November 12, 2009 at 5:43 pm #24998KestranaParticipantSorry I checked the other 2 but I didn’t think that one would be a problem cuz it was from my old digital camera. It’s fixed at the host now.
November 12, 2009 at 5:56 pm #24999ElsinoreKeymasterKool 🙂
November 13, 2009 at 8:34 pm #25000orionidParticipantI was doing the quick scroll through, saw the sunken ship, looked at the name and said, “All right, orionid’s back in the game”.
Sweet. 🙂
Thanks, man. Glad to be back.
