Hi, I’m new

Hi. Name here and Fark is clouddancer. I’m new to Farktography and generally photography in general. I have a digital camera that is claimed to be crap, but I’m working it so I can get decent pictures more often. Would like to upgrade but no money. The camera is a Kodak C340. Go ahead and laugh. It’s okay.

I just wanted to come in, say hi, get everyone a round. I was thinking of posting in the free-for-all this week, but nothing I have seems photoshop-able. I scrapbook and since doing that I’ve taken more of an interest in taking better pictures. Mostly, I take pictures of my son, who is 3 now, our cat (Kieran) and dog (Penny), and flowers. Yup, I’m a girl. I don’t care much for growing flowers or gardening, but I like flowers nonetheless. I noticed next week’s theme (I believe from the thread on themes anyway) is on dragons, and we have no dragons around here so I’ll probably stay out of that one as well and wait for a theme I could contribute to.

I work as a medical transcriptionist, so you’ll notice that I tend to write in sentences and such. Sorry if that becomes hard to read ;-). I’m used to typing things out all day long so it’s habit.

LOL! I actually don’t think I have a picture of my boobies, but that would require someone else taking them (albeit on my camera) so I’m not sure it would qualify. Hehe.. That just happened to work out perfectly. I’ll be chuckling about that for a while.

I have a “hanging garden” that I took today, though it’s not all that great, and my hubby and his friend did a firepit in the driveway with cement blocks that I got, but the angle on that one might be weird. I have not edited them at all. I usually run the pictures by my hubby because he’s the one that will crop and brightness/contrast them for me (he told me he wanted to). I’ll upload them tonight and then you can tell me what you think.

Another round for everyone! Just ’cause it’s good to drink, though I’ve no idea what’s being served.

Welcome! Glad to have you here and look forward to seeing your entries. I will certainly try to convince you to enter this week’s contest. It’s one of the rare occasions that anything goes. You can practically enter whatever you would like (abiding to Farktography/Fark rules of course). I figure that it’s always good to get more entries and experience under your belt (do ladies wear belts?). I typically come up with one decent-to-good entry each week, but still enter three every time. No one will mock you no matter how many votes you get – except for the ol’ FSM (http://www.schneeworld.com/fsm/) of course. So please consider it. Participating is the whole point, right?

Welcome aboard, clouddancer! Definitely enter this week!! No one’s gonna say squat about your camera, cause a lot of us started out on smaller cameras. I think that’s the camera my cousin has, and she gets nice pictures out of it. It’s more about your eye than the camera anyway 😉 Just remember that the vote counts don’t necessarily correlate to how technically or artistically meritorious your photos are. Sometimes the good photography takes a backseat to the funny joke. Other times, there’s nothing that stops an awesome image, no matter how many Fark cliches are in the thread.

Oh, and I’m a chick, too, so it’s always good to have some more estrogen around here 😉 I’m also verbose, so yay, it won’t just be me anymore! 😆

Hi again. Thank you for the warm welcome! These are my possibilities so far. I’ve been told to redo the firepit one tomorrow from a different angle and thus take out the yellow hose in the background and the corner of the car. I think that one would lend itself to some nice shopping. Otherwise, I think I’ll just link them as normal otherwise. You might have to copy and paste. It’ll take me a bit to figure out how this forum works, so please bear with me. Each one seems to have its quirks.

If you are going to use a ring, go with #1. #2 looks slightly out of focus (not that I should be commenting on that after last week :D). Also the firepit photo url is the same as the hanging garden one.

My first photos were with a 2.1mp camera 😀 (be careful, this can become a very expensive hobby! After seeing how they compared to others I upgraded quickly afterwards!).

The contest goes live at 8pm EST for Total Farkers only and at midnight for the whole of Farkland.
Remember to keep your shots under 200 kb or Fark will reject them as too large. Also Fark will resize them to 640 x 1100 pixels if they are bigger. This may or may not screw up the quality of your shot so keep that in mind when resizing your shots to upload for the contest.
