The main thing that keeps me from schlepping it around always is that I have a Jeep. With a soft top, all you need to break in is an opposable thumb. I do manage to bring it more often than not, even if it doesn’t always get pulled out.
Exact same boat here. I’ve been toying with the idea of buying one of those lockboxes that fits in the space between the back seat and the rear door. My other option was to bolt an appropriately shaped sheet of metal to the deck behid the seat and up over that same space, leaving the back open to make access from the rear door simple. Of course with winter on the way it’s time I put the lid back on anyway (I do have a hard top in the garage). I could drive one of the other cars, but it’s hard to beat a wrangler for getting you wherever you want to go.
Aside from that, I’ve almost always got a P&S in my pocket.
