That does look to me more like mirror tricks. I was also misleading, sort-of. Morhp-plates is what I was calling it because of some enginerding changes I made, the basic concept is more well known as double slit photography.
There’s a short, but good write-up here.
I called mine morph-plates because I made slots at two different focal lengths for interchangable plates, then made a selection of plates for each at a gap-width calculated to that focal length including verticals, horizontals, and crazy designs (s-curves, Ys, etc.). That way, If I wanted to, say, distort something to twice as wide, I’d put a vertical slit up front (long horizontal focal length) and a horizontal slit in the back (short vertical focal length). My idea for finishing this is to KISS and just cut slits in opaque paper while rough-guessing the gap width.

And waiting on the skipper to get out of a meeting so I can find out if the change of command program needs to be changed again before sending it to the printshop tomorrow morning.

I get it. Interesting stuff. I am kinda tempted to tinker around a bit and try it. In fact, I just got a bit of an idea.
February 28, 2011 at 12:23 am #37588CuriousParticipantorionid while reading the thread this caught my eye. Even with a leveled rig, and a diamond wheel designed for glass, I went through half the box to get three strips that weren’t all mangled up or cracked along the edges.
i’ve always had good luck with a (sharp) regular glass cutter. scribe it, tap on the back a little to enhance the breaking point, then sharply rap it across a table top edge. if the break has a good start and you land one side on the table and one in the air* you should get a nice clean break. a little dressing of the edge where the break occurs helps if you are going to be handling it much later.
* and by air i mean unsupported except by your hand. if you are trying to bend the glass ever so slightly when you strike the table top that helps too.
February 28, 2011 at 12:26 am #37589CuriousParticipanti have some really nice mosaic shots — would they count?
February 28, 2011 at 4:42 pm #37590olavfParticipantI could see the argument in favor if them Curious, particularly if the emphasis of the shot were on the tiles rather than the overall picture.
February 28, 2011 at 4:49 pm #37591ElsinoreKeymasterI would think they’d count if they have repeating elements. I have some tile floor shots like that.

Lol. I can’t count how many times that exact conversation has played out at our house.
March 2, 2011 at 11:01 pm #37596orionidParticipantI also would like to request OBO posting, as I will be with K. HTML/filesizes have already been tested.

//love to help, and Orionid‘s made it easy, but for Kestrana I’d have to finger out flickr’s posting picadillios, and I have no interest in learning them at this time, so I’ll respectfully decline to do either so I don’t show favoritism.
