Hah! Mine’s only a model though…
March 10, 2011 at 2:03 am #38711bucky_baconParticipantWhoooops. I need to have my 9:01:42 deleted please!

Also, is that a model of the Gemini telescope in the foreground there? I’ll be seeing the real one next week!
March 10, 2011 at 2:26 am #38714justkatParticipantjustkat, I almost used Patrick. Glad I did not. Yours is better.
Thanks! It’s extra goofy, but what the hell do you do with Patrick??? 😉
March 10, 2011 at 2:37 am #38715olavfParticipanthahaha! olavf pulled off the shot that I just couldn’t get right with boxing gloves. Love it!
Thanks! It was a good afternoon’s effort to pull that off. I’d originally used 4lb-test fishing line, ’cause I’m an idiot, and then had to remake the rig with dark thread to match the background. Hardest part was arranging all the stars so that none of them were actually in front of his head, and then getting everyone to stand still while I tried to get the stars aligned so they’d show. There’s still a couple of strings showing, but I really couldn’t help it…
/only regret is that I couldn’t get a plain one mallet in time. I was gonna write ‘Acme’ on it

March 10, 2011 at 10:24 am #38719FarktographerParticipantSome bees – (if anybody has strong feelings that one of these is better than one of the three I posted I’d like to hear about it. Not saying I’ll change but…)
Lake Tahoe last week – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Tahoe_6897.jpg
Tiny farm land cemetery – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Cemetery_5179a.jpg
Tattered flag with Holga-on-dSLR – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Tattered_9990.jpg
40 minutes – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/StarTrails_0346-square-aa.jpgThis is from the flag barn evening. It was the first picture after taking my camera from a cold air-conditioned van out into 90ish degree humid air.
Instant fog. I sort of like the feel though – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Barn_4607.jpg
Same barn, similar to a prior post – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Barn_4641.jpgRandom question from a newer photographer – what are Bees? Farktography terminology?

b-sides.
shots you considered entering, but didn’t make the cut.March 10, 2011 at 2:16 pm #38721ravnosticParticipantSome really great, unique entries! Kestrana, right now we’re neck-and-neck tied for 3rd with very similar pictures and even captions.
March 10, 2011 at 3:23 pm #38722KestranaParticipantQuite surprised that picture is doing so well honestly, considering other people’s actual star photos but hey, I’ll take it. We literally got home just as the contest was going up and that was my only archive-dug prepared entry. There were a lot of very clever ideas this week.
Plama I’ve honestly no idea. It’s right at the entrance to “Beyond the Solar System” in the museum though if you are ever there. I think it’s more a generic display.
March 10, 2011 at 4:48 pm #38723ravnosticParticipantMe too with mine, Kes. There ought to be a “Fark’s Nature Guide to the Behavior of Voters in the Fark Wilds”.
Elsinore, that’s a lovely shot of Orion’s Nebula; may I ask the details of what was used and the settings?
I’m No Big Deal–your 8:13:55 image gave me a neat idea to try–thanks!
Orionid I mourn with you upon learning of your loss of shoes. LOL
I surely don’t think my current standing will last for long–I got a friend at work last night to join and then vote (helps to work 12 hour shifts!), and my two regular FB friends who actually cared enough to join have already voted, as did I, so it’s kinda slanted toward me momentarily. That will surely change, unless I can coerce some other people*. And I always encourage people to vote for any pics they like–I recently learned my mom thought she could only vote for 3 entries, when she revealed she voted for only two of mine because she like someone else’s so much she just had to vote for it (I can dig up the picture that was, but I believe I commented about it at the time). I politely edumacated her otherwise, and got my damned third vote. 🙂
*//haven’t done so well at recruiting, overall. I envy you guys who have kids/spouses/siblings etc. from whom you can withhold allowance/sex/childhood embarrassments from public knowledge (respectively, mind you).

Actually it’s not a given that I vote for orionid and our parents don’t always vote for us either. Granted there’s probably been only 2 pictures he submitted that I haven’t voted for but I still try to maintain impartiality and ask my friends/family to vote for all pictures they think are worthy even if it doesn’t include mine.
