ParticipantCan we include bug porn?

KeymasterUm, given I’m participating, yes? 😉

ParticipantI so need a macro lens. But I will make do with what I have. And I do have some shots, even though I know I’ll be outclassed. Call me an exhibitionist, I don’t care.

ParticipantDo slugs count? I have a couple of shots of slugs that might work. If not, I have some other bugs to consider, though not many.

KeymasterI think they fit in with the ‘other crawly things”

ParticipantWhat about flying bugs (ex: butterflies, moths, dragonflies, etc)?
May 14, 2010 at 12:47 pm #27587Elsinore
KeymasterThey’re insects, yes?
May 16, 2010 at 5:01 am #27588oi_piss_me_off
ParticipantDo they have to be alive? And this may be a stupid question but, how does it have to be to be considered macro?

ParticipantI was also wondering what is considerded “macro” as opposed to just rather close. does this count as macro?…http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4645882627_d3ba889887_b.jpg

orionidParticipantI’d say that’s plenty macro, Lokisbong. Not my theme suggestion, but I’d say in the spirit of allowing participation, anything with insects (short of a wide angle of the entire swarm of bees eating your neighbors kid) is going to require you to get close enough to count as macro,

KeymasterPretty much this^^^ If there’s a good faith effort at closeup, it’s fine with me.

KeymasterAlso, I don’t think living matters as long as they’re not all nasty and smashed up.

ParticipantVery good! I got a few today of that red dragonfly and I think I know where to find some more if I cannot find any other bugs doin the porn thing.

Well I’m glad they don’t have to be alive, and I’m kinda dismayed about ‘not all nasty and smashed up’. Does dessicated count as smashed up? As it, it’s a desert, and things dry out here? Honest, I didn’t squish anything, it just dried that way.
I tried to get a live (or rather, soon-to-be-freshly killed) sample, but they’re faster than my tweezers.
I did, though, spy another interesting sample while I was trying, and I’ll be submitting that result, at least.[/b]
