Actually, you need to post on Fark.com in the Farktography thread here: http://www.fark.com/comments/7185620 . Do you have a Fark.com account?

fluffybunny, love the wings and tail open shot. Really shows off the coloring very nicely. Was out walking my dog over the weekend and there was a scissor tail sitting in a tree in one of the park areas we were walking by, he seemed perfectly content to let me walk really quite close, but alas I didn’t even have my phone on me.

And yes, this IS going to be an epic thread.

edit, U-Man, love the part-gray mallard head, you’re right, that’s awesomely sharp. //envy.

Wait. You can leave the house without so much as a cheap point n shoot? How do you do that? every time I leave home without one I see something that reinforces my need to carry a camera even if I will only be gone 10 minutes. I haven’t even taken the garbage to the dumpster without my little Canon PnS in my pocket in 2 years.

Lot of greatness this theme. Of which only one of my three qualify in my opinion. I love my 1st of 3 but I think I over did the processing on the other two. Number one is pretty much straight out of camera though.

Going out without a camera is like going out naked…

I know, I know, I should have known better. 😉

beakgeek, lots of fantastic shots on your website, guess I should swing back through the Fark.com thread and see how many new entries I need to vote for now. 🙂 Can’t quite make out the Schwinn head badge in your avatar. Looks to be one of the standard Schwinn Chicago badges, Radiant Coppertone paint?

It is the headbadge for a – hand made schwinn from Japan’s Panasonic factory. It is a 1977 Schwinn Volare that was the bike that was one step down from a Paramount. It came with all first gen Dura Ace components. The color is “pearlescent orange”. They made that model in 1977 & 78.

Ah, the Volare, I know the model. I’m a regular over in the Classic & Vintage section of BikeForums.net (cuda2k, admin), as well as the owner/developer of VeloBase.com. I’ve had a couple of vintage Schwinns in the last few years, but none quite that old.

// first contest that’s on the outside of the vote avg curve I’ve seen since I started participating!

I know who you are. I am on there too as beakgeek. You helped me out with an id on another bike.

Wow, there are some really cool birds I’ve never seen before. I wish more people would’ve said what kind they are, if they knew.

I’m No Big Deal: That hummingbird is so cute & fluffy! We don’t have that kind here that I know of.

    Nice job, gang!

Thanks! The past few years the hummies haven’t been around when the blueberry bush is in bloom. I think in 09 the bush bloomed late and the hummies were early.

Well I guess I should just not take pictures of Birds for Farktography anymore. Definitely not feeling any love for my shots this week. Did I really suck that bad with all three?( you can be honest it won’t hurt my feelings anymore than having my pictures completely being ignored.) I expect to wear out my thumb again this week. So at least my pics will have 2 votes each. lol

I’m prone to feel the same in some contests…

I think it to be less measure of your shots than a measure of the competition.

Honestly, bird photos where the bird does not make up the majority of the image don’t have a lot of visual impact. Your shots are more landscapes that happen to have birds in them rather than portraits of birds. If that makes any sense.
