errrrm…. a portal to the tummy? how would that fly ? (couldn’t get a shot all the way thru to the pooper)

I was thinking along the same lines. Now I’m not sure if I should post it…I don’t want it appear that I am stealing the ideas of another photographer.
August 10, 2011 at 5:14 pm #28013Zero_ExponentParticipantMy gut feel is that if film or paper are involved somewhere, then it’s cool, but if it’s digital across the board, then probably too wild of a software change.
Understood. The one I had in mind was pure digital. I may enter the “positive” version, I just thought it looked better the other way.
August 10, 2011 at 5:19 pm #28014brownbreadParticipantQuestion. Is a frame from a video acceptable for a farktography?
I haven’t managed to take a snap specfically for this week’s competition sadly; but this shot from a video I made is well suited.
Thanks and looking forward to seeing results!

yeah, because you just ran out and snapped a shot of some random, prowling beast after seeing my shot, right?
use it. I might not even use the lion. Just make sure you blow us away with yours 😆

I wouldn’t worry about that, oddmind. Look through past theme threads and you’ll find that we often come up with the same ideas independently. As long as your execution is different, I don’t think anyone will accuse you of stealing ideas.

I’d love to encourage your participation, but unfortunately Farktography entries must be photographs. Screen captures, which would include video captures, are excluded from the contest.
You’ve still got 2 (6) hours though, maybe there’s something around the house or down the street that would work?
August 10, 2011 at 11:04 pm #28018Zero_ExponentParticipant… I’ve decided not to use the shot I was asking about, so here’s an early B:

That was the “negative” version. Since I’m not entering it, I won’t bother uploading the positive one.If you have trouble figuring out what that is, here is the answer:

August 10, 2011 at 11:20 pm #28020UranusParticipantas ever, third choice is tough, although the Lion has dropped out of the race…

Not to worry, I didn’t have much time this evening but I did remember another picture in my archive from last year… I will be making one submission! All is well. Horay!

The portal in question is a portico that used to lead to a manor house in what is now Fort Tryon Park in Manhattan. I love the light in this shot, I have to go back same bat time same bat channel to reshoot with better alignment.

Also, welcome aboard, brownbread! Glad you have something to enter 🙂 Just for future reference, one caveat to the frame/screen grab rule would be if your video camera can take stills during video and you happened to snap one as a separate picture–that would be fair game. But otherwise, as Kestrana said, regular frame capture wouldn’t be allowed.

Like, very much. 🙂
My b’s are interior shots of the Central/Jackson underpass used in my 2nd photo. It was at 1a.m. I first shot there; but upon going home to process, discovered I’d gunked up my lens and everything had fuzzies. Went back at 3a.m.-ish. And it really isn’t a nice neighborhood. Both sides of the tunnel smelled like pee, and during the entire time, I’m checking up and down the tunnel for nefarious lurkers (didn’t see any, though, **phew**)
Processed each a bit differently, but it’s not mirrored; shot from both walkways, facing north:
