KeymasterPhotograph neon lights, signs, etc. Any low pressure, gas discharge lighting counts, but incandescent does not. Difficulty: No Casinos
Thanks to SilverStag for the theme suggestion.

ParticipantSo, I didn’t see a consensus in the theme thread: is this theme for:
1) Just for Neon lights, so that would be a orange-red color
2) Any Low-pressure gas discharge lighting that isn’t the normal florescent white color
3) Any Low-pressure gas discharge lighting including white florescent lights
4) Any kind of colored light bulb as used in a sign, like colored incandescent lightsAugust 28, 2008 at 3:15 am #18675Elsinore
KeymasterThe definition of neon light at wikipedia is thus:
Neon signs are luminous-tube signs that contain neon or other inert gases at a low pressure
Which I would think should include fluorescent lights since the mechanism is the same or similar, but not incandescent lights of any color.

ParticipantThat would count… Any low pressure dishcharge light

KeymasterWe could write that into the theme description if that would help.

Yeah. Probably should to avoid confusion and hurt feelings.
Could it be as simple as “Photograph neon-type lights, signs, etc.”? In the first discussion there seemed to be some agreement that we’re just looking for cool pics of cool lights – not an arguement about physics and chemistry.

ParticipantExactly how much neon needs to be in the picture? What if there is a neon sign in the picture but its small and not the center of focus (but its providing a good portion of the light in the picture).

KeymasterI got that clarification added to the theme description.
mig2982: The composition is really up to you. If you include neon lighting in the picture, then it should count.

orionidParticipantHmmm….. I had a few good ideas planned out for this one, but I just realized that it’ll be quite difficult to submit my entries from 30,000 feet over the pacific. Good luck to all.

And the FSM can be jiggered to allow for a proper accounting.
The Farktography Team is pretty full-service.

Hmmm….. Didn’t think about that. I figured I could toss them up during my layover at Atlanta. 6:00 the next morning is better late than never, right?
