ParticipantDiggin, that multiple exposure is sweet! How’d you do that in camera? Long exposure?
On a tripod using a remote I set the D200 to have a grid in the viewfinder then set it to take one multiple exposure (2 photos for the same image) I used the Portrait setting to bring the dark up a bit then shot my first fork using a flash (no over exposure). The second image I turned of the flash, used a 2 second shutter, leaving the aperture alone, which allowed the orange based light in my house to change the hue of the fork. This shot was intentionally overexposed. When they combine in one NEF file I used photoshop to adjust the contrast up, then the brightness and exposure down. This blackens the background, brings the chrome out of the first fork and darkens the gold in the second fork. Then it’s done! Just like that.

KeymasterAhhh that’s right…forgot the D200 could do in camera double exposures. Nice, especially the appearance of two different metals because of your lighting.

KeymasterIs it so hard to have a specific (reasonable) time frame to automagically greenlight to? Really?

ParticipantI’ve gotta say it.
You suck, schnee.
You really, really suck.

ParticipantJust an FYI: As of June 2006 the D200 is my first DSLR (SLR at that!) Before it I used my trusty Canon A620 point-n-shoot but after I learned all its features I found it wouldn’t do what I wanted it to. So I got one that would. I’m as new to this hobby as it gets. (Well, maybe I am.) “The fork” was my first double exposure!
Thanks for making me feel good about my attempts!

/sighSeriously. Thousands of nerds at his disposal and it took a year(?) to get a tag… 😯

Keymasterlol Diggin, sounds like you and I are in almost the exact same place. Got my Canon A620 in December last year as an early Christmas present. It was my first non-automagic camera. It’s sweet, and I still use it, but I also quickly hit its limitations. I got my 30D in May for mother’s day, and it now has 3600+ shots on it lol. I’ve always liked snapping pictures, but only really got into photography around Oct or Nov of last year. I still feel like such a n00b, but damn I’m having fun!

KeymasterI wouldn’t even know where to begin other than beer bribery. How did the PS contests get their start on Fark? Anyone know? And the audio and video edits? How is it that they got folded in, given forums, regulated times, etc and Farktography didn’t?
