Pictures of storefronts. New, old, abandoned, anything goes (as long as it is/was a retail business). Interiors are fine, too.
Theme suggestion kudos go to Pope_Larry_II!
November 3, 2011 at 11:06 am #42325YugoboyParticipantWhilst driving to work this morning I wondered at the definition of “retail”
All I’m looking for as a yes or no to the following, I’m not going to argue for them if it’s no:A) Banks (and credit unions, etc.)
B) Restaurants (and cafes, etc.)
C) Movie Theaters
D) Buildings where retail is contained within, but is not necessarily a “storefront” in it’s own right (think entrance to a “Street o’ Shops” kind of thing)I’m sure others will come up with other theme stretchers. It’s the time of year when, if I leave early for work, I’ll have time (and the ability) to combine night photography with this theme, and I’m just curious (not Curious) about whether or not certain locales will fit this theme.
November 3, 2011 at 12:55 pm #42326Pope_Larry_IIParticipantI’m going with this definition: A place where goods and services are exchanged for money.
Yugoboy, TL;DR version: yes.
November 3, 2011 at 1:31 pm #42327staplermofoParticipantWould a hooker wearing a clear plastic poncho over her standard hookerwear count?
November 3, 2011 at 4:07 pm #42328Pope_Larry_IIParticipantWell, unless she has a storefront no; however, a Rub ‘n’ Tug would be admissible (maybe NSFW, but admissible)
November 3, 2011 at 7:09 pm #42329KestranaParticipantCan you post interior pictures too or only exteriors?
November 3, 2011 at 11:34 pm #42330Pope_Larry_IIParticipantI have no issues with interior shots.
November 4, 2011 at 1:20 pm #42324bender16vParticipantHopefully I’ll be able to get some decent shots for this one, next week I am going to Chicago for two weeks. I’ll try to keep my camera handy.
November 4, 2011 at 2:17 pm #42323KestranaParticipantState st. + Michigan Ave. = epic shopping district in Chicago. If you’re out in the suburbs, the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg is the biggest mall in the area and has some interesting architectural design inside (lots of ramps) and a little aquarium. Mitsua is also on the other side of 355 from there, it’s a Japanese mall.

It’s retail sin, right?

I can’t see why not. Voters my have a different opinion though.

Okay, I keep seeing the TL;DR thingy and have no idea what it means. Anyone care to enlighten me?
//edit, thanks NBD!

Too Long ; Didn’t Read
December 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm #42335YugoboyParticipantUnlike last week (which after seeing some others’ entries I now realize I had WAY more in my archive than I thought) I’m burdened with choice on this one, and I even stopped on the way home last night to get some night shots of a rural gas station glowing all alone in the night.
The one that I really really want to use, however, I’m going to be using in SOOC, and I didn’t take 2 shots of it, so 🙁
December 1, 2011 at 3:55 pm #42336mopsyParticipantThe problem with taking photos inside malls, is security may step in. I tried taking some unique shots of a stairway inside a mall in Milwaukee and was told by security it was not allowed. I packed up; waited until security left and tried again. Another security told me that I needed to leave! I decided not to try a third time. However, I work in a mall and the manager there does not mind my photography sessions.
