I’m way up north. Nearest cross streets are 1st and Orange Grove.
July 1, 2011 at 2:39 pm #31243caradocParticipantLooks like the Phoenix area is up for storms starting this weekend. Probability is not high yet, but I have good hopes for Monday night (hooray for Nature’s fireworks on the 4th!)
Tucson may also get some activity on Monday through the evening.
(I use http://www.wunderground.com for weather predictions – the animated NEXRAD map can include lightning strikes if you check the little box.)

We need a ‘like’ button here. I’m a big fan of wunderground.

My Wunderground account will expire 12/28/2021…
It’s very much worth the $5/year for the extras.
July 1, 2011 at 3:43 pm #31240ravnosticParticipantThere’s ‘extras’? What extras? I didn’t get a memo!! The last time I checked (which would be last monsoon season), I could get the animation, cloud-height info, radar lightning strikes, etc., with a few clicks.
What am I missing? Because if there’s more, I’m SO up for it. Hell, it’s 1/12th the annual cost of TotalFark, if I didz the maths right…
July 1, 2011 at 3:46 pm #31239caradocParticipantCheck how many frames you can animate on the NEXRAD… and the paid version is ad-free. 😀
(Ad-free is a major bonus when I’m on the road, as the ads can really cut into a smartphone data plan.)
July 1, 2011 at 10:11 pm #31246Plamadude30kParticipantOh, also I’m trying to get a night for eyepiece observing on the Bok 90″ telescope on Kitt Peak on the 16th. If you guys are in the area and feeling up to it, please let me know. I’m almost certain that I can get a night on the Kuiper 61″ on the 16th, but the Bok is even better.
July 2, 2011 at 12:09 am #31236ravnosticParticipantIt happens I requested that night off, Plama if I get it, I’ll be down there. And if so, can I come, and may I bring my aunt who lives there? (she’d love this–we were just talking about visiting Kitt).

Yes, we’re trying to get a bunch of people to go up. As I said, anybody in the area will be welcome, just let me know beforehand so we can arrange carpooling (we don’t want too many vehicles going up the mountain). We’re still not sure if we can get the 90″, but I’m 99% positive we can get the 61″ on that night. I can keep interested people updated here or by pm or email.
July 2, 2011 at 11:47 pm #31237linguineParticipantWell Ive made it out to arizona in one peice. Got most of my pics from the trip and some of the park Im at for the summer up here http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/?saved=1
I’d be up for playing with telescopes, I should be off that weekend although I’ll probably be slow responding to anything online since right now I have to drive 30 miles to get online.September 16, 2011 at 5:26 pm #31248linguineParticipantWell I’m back in Maryland with reliable internet again so I’m going to have to get back in the swing of things again.
September 16, 2011 at 9:02 pm #31249KestranaParticipantpics or it didn’t happen 😉
September 16, 2011 at 9:05 pm #31250linguineParticipantHeres most of the pics, I’ll have the last couple pics from organ pipe and the road trip home up probably sometime next week. http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/collections/72157626993611215/
