It’s not bad, caradoc; just a little overblown. Were you on 100 ISO?

    Camera Nikon D7000
    Exposure 0.001 sec (1/1000)
    Aperture f/45.0
    Focal Length 300 mm
    ISO Speed 100
    Exposure Bias 0 EV

Not much here. Didn’t have a whole lot of time – had to change a poopy baby mid-eclipse, so was shooting from the back yard.

The longest lens I’ve got to work with is 300mm, and stops down to f45 – but I also have a linear polarizer to stack on the front of my circular polarizer, giving me a LOT more stopping-down capability. We’ll see what happens. The best location I’ll be able to get to will be Papago Park, though. So, maybe 84% of totality, I think.

Thirteen months. And she said “Dada” today for the first time in a meaningful fashion.

    From her first birthday party…

    Tears and screaming in 5, 4, 3, 2…

She let go of the elastic just as the flash fired.

We are going from a species of tool creators to a species of tools, whose only reason for existing is to push the button and receive a pellet!

Objection! The implication in this statement is that we’re on our way there.

I think the success of “Jersey Shore” indicates we hit that point at least five seasons back.

A lot of cheaper webcams have the IR filter in the lens, not glued to the sensor. The old Kritter cameras, for example. Just unscrew the lens and look for a piece of glass that has kind of a gold sheen to it. Then remove that piece of glass.

iPhoto and Aperture both have pretty solid integration with Flickr. Beats the Flickr Uploadr pretty handily.

Here’s the slideshow we ran during her party (I’ve cut the audio out – wasn’t sure about the licensing from iPhoto for the provided music…)

She’s stopped chewing on her books (mostly) and started getting more interested in the contents.

The acquisition isn’t merely about instagram. Its about now having their software engineers and knocking outs minor social networking rival in the face of their IPO. Also, perhaps trying to lure the vibrant photo community from G+ since FB changed their photo viewer and photo sharing to be exactly like G+’s (ironic since the photo community hated the G+ viewer when it was new).

Not to mention acquiring the Instagram user base. That’s probably the most valuable asset in the transaction.

She finally stood up long enough to get a photo.
