Lovely. My camera just died. Error 80 (2Ti), then after reformatting etc, Error 70. Off to the repair shop (still under warranty at least). Probably will miss the next few. Unless I break out the 2nd xTi. Which I might. But this sucks. I’ve been spoiled by the 2Ti features…

I’m in the midst of breaking in a new kitten with the old cat. I’d be lucky to be able to arc-dive. When is ITITAPT3 coming, btw?

That is FULL of win, Pope!!

NBD; Pope’s theme, Pope’s rules. And his suggestion reminds me of a little trick I picked up from a wedding photog…

This was the main factor in my selecting the Canon system when I got my first DSLR>

Taken like at 3-4 am in the morning when nobody else would be there and I could get the slight ghosting/blur in the flags)

ah that explains the low saturation

Partially; the camera’s settings for saturation were set to their minimum, and the white balance is altered in post to get rid of the orange sodium vapor cast (not quite tungsten but over on that end of the scale; I did this in Elements and there’s no easy way to see exactly what I altered, is there?); that change took most of the color because everything had the orange cast to it to begin with. I hate those damned orange/yellow lights. It’s an 8 second exposure.

Thank goodness some of you posted flags; I’d forgotten to put my last one in the ‘bin’ for use and those reminded me; I had to frantically find where, on the new laptop, I stored something I did originally on the old laptop, resize it, then spend 4 previews before I realized I’d misspelled ‘Rememberance’ in the file name for posting! *Phew*. I don’t know how it will go over with the voters, but it’s my favorite self-portrait to date. Taken like at 3-4 am in the morning when nobody else would be there and I could get the slight ghosting/blur in the flags)

Gotta admit, I was thinking about mounting on a tripod, then hand-holding it aloft and *spin*. But yeah, I get that might not be kosher.

    Nice.
Two wrongs eventually led to two rights. The world is going to end up a pretty nice place.

It seems to me that your picture is your picture. Plain and simple. Credition. Due. Snap.

Ennuipoet and CISS wound up in a three-way with Elsinore last night? If that doesn’t put a big smile on those guys faces, I don’t know what will 😆

    I’ll be in my bunk…

Would say something about a box of Kleenex….but no.

This was the most delicious contest in recent memory, IMO. We’ll have to do it again in a couple years. Congrats to the weiners!!

//had a couple three-way jokes, but they’ve all been used above.

Choc; it’s not the cost, it’s the motherboard. I’m limited to 8. I’m lucky to have 2 Fry’s in the valley here, one just a few miles from my home. I won’t be expanding anytime soon, though, they’re talking RTO (rotating time off) at the fab; things are really slow. So I have to pinch my pennies and save, for the time being (I’m one of the lucky ones–I’m HOPING for the RTO so I can spend the time learning new processing techniques; I paid off the bills when things were good).

As it was, though, the 8 gig (2 4Gb cards) was only $40, and that included the shipping, so at least it was a good deal. For less than $550, I’m processing at 4x (well…nearly) the speed I had been–and that was after a 2 to 4 Gb increase in the original laptop I’d paid around $800 for 5 years ago (The add’l RAM cost about $100 to upgrade, as I recall).

//I’ll probably sell the 4Gb that came with the set on E-bay. Won’t get much for it, but still…

The thing is, I simultaneously see it as boobies or testicles….where the guy’s plowed into the staircase. For me, it’s what we call a multi-stable image, like the faces/vases drawing. Wonder what that says about *my* psyche? 😆

Only you Elsinore, only you 🙄

And this, Mopsy, would be where you’re wrong.

//I was going to be polite and not say anything. 🙄
