Reminds me of a funny joke I read in the Reader’s Digest:

A gnome is in the garden busily destroying some bushes when a house cat appears. “What are you?” asks the cat.

“A gnome,” comes the reply. “I steal food from humans, I kill their plants, I make annoying music at night to drive them crazy, and I love mischief. And what, may I ask, are you?”

I was going to get a picture of the burros that carry you into the Grand Canyon, but I guess that’s not really what we were going for here. *piffle*. Can’t say I’ll be joining in this week. My bad-assedness tendencies are too arcane.

What are thoughts on U-man’s airport shot and my street shot as qualifying? I tend toward U-man’s definition, but then I’m biased? I’ll be working for the next few hours but will check back here during break; disenvotify if that’s the concensus (sheds a tear if so).

This was a rough contest. Doubly so because there’s other contests coming up in which I decided to save some of my pics. NOticed the counts; I took over 400 photos for this and the streets contest. A total of 5 I liked enough to consider using for this.

And thank FARK for daylight savings time; I’ve been absent the past two contests because I’m now working nights, starting at 6:15pm. Now I have an hour leeway and can upload at work, so long as I remember to load the images to my website beforehand.

Oh well, then. Interesting that the vote count is so low; I kinda thought so when I was looking. I have entries for Pan, but nothing thus far for the next two. Don’t know that I’ll have time to participate in those; I just (after 3 months unemployment) got a new job. I’ll check my archives; Farkitecture I’m sure I’ll have something for (see my ‘gallery’ entry); Geeky as I am, I don’t have anything planned for geek contest.

It has been fun getting to pick up tips and ‘meeting’ the artists.

Only 3 thus far on the one missing all words ‘Fark’ from the webpage. Does nobody get it, or is the composition so terrible that it’s just not getting votes?

And how does the missing 8 ball on page 3 get more votes than my missing 8 ball on page 1?

Sour grapes, I know; but I really tried to be creative here and am disappointed to have fared so poorly. I’d expected a much better response.

Zero Exponent

Thanks! Now you know why I was nervous about someone having the same idea as me. The “screenshot” needed a little more exposure and also white balancing. I had to take a couple shots because you can get horizontal “noise” if you’re not shooting at 30 fps or higher (applies to CRT screens, not sure about LCD and plasma) because the monitor draws a new picture 30 times per second.

I tried close/far, short/long exp., high/low f-stop, bracketing each and every combo therein. It’s why I included the html page link. Nothing improved under any circumstances. But…I’m at least happy that I haven’t seen any other of the same theme. Your’s is the closest thus far.

But I’m happy that I haven’t seen a dozen others like what I did. And surprised at same. Yours is the closest, thus far.

It’s a problem with taking pix of computer screens. This is a picture that I snapped (had to snap fast, due to the subject) on my computer screen… I didn’t spend all the time you did, but I think it illustrates the same kind of issues you had.

I guess. That’s why I uploaded the html page…so a clear shot could be had. Granted, I didn’t bother with the ‘Fark’ mentions that wouldn’t appear in the screen shot. But I think the point is made. I’m surprised I didn’t see a half dozen of these in the first 50 posts…once I thought of it, I thought everyone would eventually (and maybe some will.)

Integrity kept me from posting a screen shot. Damned integrity!!

As for mine, I’m saddened that no matter HOW MANY TIMES and HOW MANY WAYS I took my picture, I could NOT get a super-clear shot!! Must be something about my screen vs. my camera. I picked the best I could; the full shot was taken mainly to show it wasn’t photoshopped, then cropped to show the removal of not just the Fark logo, but every other ‘Fark’ on the page, as well (including a reference in the posts, but that got cut out.)

It’s HTML coding (and wasn’t THAT a bear to figure out!!!!), so it should qualify based upon a substantial reading of the rules of the contest.

Already liking some of the goodest entries!

P.S.; in the pool shot (it should be obvious what’s missing), that’s me in the picture. 6 second exposure due to desire of depth and bar lighting. A be-atch to hold still long enough to get me even semi-clear [much like when I’m drinking.])

Just sayin’; I think I got a winner for this. No details; don’t want anyone to farking steal my idears. But Visa’s ‘Priceless’ comes to mind (and no, that’s not a hint, just what I think people will say.)
