ParticipantThanks, Elsinore, U-man; I was sure I’d read in the photoshop that pic max was 600pxl/side; nice to know I can go a little large in farktography! I generally just cut the quality of my jpegs now to keep them under the minimum (and had no idea how to do that when I started; learning new things every day!!)

ParticipantIt seems to me some shots in the thread must be larger on one side than 600 pixels. If that’s permitted in these contests, I’d take advantage as it would make things easier.

ParticipantI really want to enter this guy but again it’s the posed thing. He was standing next to his car in the parking lot of the shopping mall obviously waiting for someone. Not too happy about it either. Can I use him? I have some other shots, but this is the best.
That’s a great shot, Mopsy.

ParticipantThe skaters in my first post were 3 of about 10; two dads and their kids. They saw me photographing from the metro rail station and yelled ‘hey’ to me.
The image of the skater jumping I almost missed as I’d moved to other people, but one of the skaters yelled for me to take the shot. How could I not oblige? I actually caught two. But I just wanted to state I did not stage the shot for the contest. I later got one of their emails and sent them the two shots.

Participant…and then the problem gets to be a lens wide enough to capture the plane and enough of it’s background. I can only get down to 14mm with a wide angle lens; might be enough. Thanks for your help, sleeping.

ParticipantThat fast!?! Totally backwards from what I was thinking. I was trying for airplanes landing, and given my proximity (about 1 mile), I’d not think they’d go fast enough to get any blur. Same with the metro rail. (I did get a couple of kids in a crosswalk and a bicylist and kid, which I may use.) I’ll have to change my thinking; thanks for the tips. Reminds me that I did some shots of my brother’s rem-control car that came out well and if I recall, had the blur effect. I’ll have to hunt those down and look.

ParticipantTurns out this theme is harder than I thought! Shot at least 500 pics yesterday, of those, only one came out the way I wanted it to! AND to make matters worse, it would be a perfect shot for people on the streets, but I can’t use it for both! Off to tech talk for suggestions on improvements.

ParticipantDo you use a blue filter (or digital correction) to get that tone, or is that the natural lighting there?
Regardless, I just love your photography. You are an artist.

Participant
hate when that happens!

ParticipantThis seems to me to capture one aspect of the theme, no? Obviously an old-school example, but am I accurate on the theme?

ParticipantI’m thinking the airport is not venuable, as it is a ‘destination’ of sorts (though not the Final Destination *snort*).
Elsewise, I have some ideas besides; I’ve done a lot of ‘people watching’ shots over the past two years I’ve had my XTi. And I’ve got time, as IF I get the job I just peed for it won’t start till the 1st.
