KeymasterYep that’s fine. It shouldn’t be huge, but it’s allowable.

ParticipantLately I’ve taken to not tagging the 640x post print, but I do tag the pop versions – basically anything big enough someone could print.
I felt like the imprimatur was making the small versions a bit too ‘fussy-looking’ for my tastes. YMMV though.

ParticipantI found a spiffy scripts for the Gimp that works pretty well – Especially once you figure out how to modify it so it defaults to your name, etc.

Participantit worked for me ravnostic, although i didn’t use it. yours has no closing tags.
i have three tonight which will do crap in the voting compared to many you all will submit but i wanted enter and it turns out 1) my archives are skimpy for macro bugs, 2) my film archives are old and don’t seem to scan very well, 3) waited to the last minute to shoot for this and the bugs were hiding. odd for spring in my yard.

Not to compare myself to U-Man (or anyone else for that matter) but I shot mine with a Sigma 70-300mm lens that I bought for $99 on Ebay. Just flipped the switch to Macro and shot the ISO way up and went for it. I’m going to get myself a Canon EF 100mm Macro soon, but I don’t think I could’ve done better with it on. Don’t sell yourself short, all the gear in the world doesn’t replace a good eye, and you’ve got one.
I am, BTW, moderately proud of my butterfly. Whatever the vote total may say! 😀

Ok clearly I need more alcohol..I swear on all that is holy that said it was an orionid post before!
And I second ennuipoet‘s motion about equipment. I got a set of extension tubes for Mother’s Day, and they turn any of my lenses into a macro lens on the cheap. Also, my bug porn shot was taken with my small digicam on macro mode. Toys are fun, and they can certainly help, but there’s more than one way to skin a spider. Or something.

ParticipantThanks Ennui and Els! I think this week I turned a corner with my photography; I’m hoping to top it, though, for ‘All night long’, as I have two new telescope toys to try out…
