Of course. I try to keep my themes as open to interpretation as possible and let the voters sort it out. The go / no-go card on this one would be to simply ask “was it taken at night?”

Yeah, I was counting on that. I was thinking about spelling out FARK in three-foot tall letters of ribbon on the beach, putting the camera on a tripod up by the road thirty or fifty feet overhead, and then lighting off the strips of magnesium one by one.
I probably would have ended up with a big white blur, though, unless I stopped down all to hell.
I’ve got plenty of fall-back material.

2) welding glass (poor-mans solar filter)
3) solar filter (nuff said)
4) mylar potato chip bag, doubled over (poor-er mans solar filter)

I’ve taken quite a few shots of burning magnesium before without problem, and plenty of sparklers. I’ve yet to see any damage.

That’s what I was going for. Some of the outtakes…. not so much.
I knew that shot was…er…coming…from someone. Can’t say I’m surprised it was you. The fingers make the shot. Seems tame enough, though. They’ve been raunchier on network tv.
